As with lots of electronic items these days, after a while, they just stop working. Often with modern electronics that have a rechargeable lithium battery the cause is the battery wearing out. In some items the battery is not removable, in others the battery can be removed, but a replacement cannot be sourced. In some of these cases an alternative battery can be fitted. In third category of cases the battery is removable and available making the fix easy. This is what I was hoping for with this bike light.
The light was easy to dismantle with a few small hex wrenches. You can see in the photos below what it looks like on the inside.
You can see that there is a single cell 1850 lithium battery which should be easy to source on Ebay. This proved to be partially the case. I bought several, but for some reason they all appeared to be slightly too short. Rather that keep on wasting my money on more batteries I have wedged a small bit off copper between one end of the battery and the terminal. This has done the job and the light now charges and works fine.
